Try the new format — the transfer of travel

The new project of our studio — TV video format. In September 2013 a camera crew video studio «phase» went into the shooting expedition in the Khasan district of Primorsky Krai. For two days we drove more than 200 miles away, and the result of the trip was a 17-minute video, which will be discussed in this text.

Primorsky Krai — an amazing place. And we say this not because we live here. Primorye — the region with the richest flora and fauna in Russia. This is the place where a surprising combination of diversity and contradictions. Here majestic mountains are combined with white sandy beaches, rich forests — with stony deserts, and prehistoric lotus flower grows close to the tallest tree in Russia — black fir. This originality Primorye is complemented by its geographical uniqueness. Located on the edge of the «warm» subtropical latitude, but on the banks of the cold Pacific Ocean.

We love Primorye, its unique nature, and that love was the starting point for the filming of this movie. We would like, using modern equipment, to talk about the beauty of the edge as no one had told me.

Initially, the project was conceived as a series of videos in which attention would be focused on interesting places Primorye, where not everyone was able to visit. For this format, leading to the frame was not required. It was planned that in parallel with the first roll will be filmed so-called backstage , which already appears on the screen commentator, who talks about the behind the scenes of the filming. As a result, we decided to unite these two ideas — leave the story about interesting places in Primorye, but put them together with comments by leading to the role which was held several castings. As a result, the narrator was chosen Constantine Beletsky, which brought its share of positives in the narrative.Ведущий Константин Белецкий (кадр из видео)

The main venue for the filming began two peninsulas: Bruce and Gamow — or rather, their extreme points — the same name capes. At Cape Bruce frame were famous basalt columns that stand close to each other and leaving a cliff into the sea. Cape famous eponymous lighthouse, which indicates the way to the courts Amur Bay. He shines white, red and green lights on the 33 kilometers. The lighthouse was built in the early XX century and still is a closed object.

Cape Coast Gamow considered permanent habitat for sea lions. This is one of the many reasons why every year Gamow coast attracts many tourists. Near the free zone situated to visit the Far Eastern Marine Biosphere Reserve, FEB RAS. Most of the coast is a bizarre rock on which grows grave pine. Cape Gamow — the only place in Russia where you can see a rare tree.

To show the nature of southern Primorye in all colors, we have used various methods of filming. Among them lapse recording (also known as «timelapse»), shoot with the stabilization systems (gyrostabilizer), shooting with moving objects, and others. But the most valuable and important for us was the opportunity to spend a full shot from the air in places that have rarely seen more than one angle from the ground. Most of these shots was taken from a helicopter that will remove hard-to-space, which is impossible to find another way. Aerial photography provides a glimpse into the nature and landscapes, as seen by birds — opens unprecedented detail, new facets of these places. A device gyrostabilization camera helped make the picture smooth and crisp.

For aircraft surveys we used oktokopter (Octo — eight screws). Mobile radio-controlled aircraft with camera penetrated to where could not maneuver a large helicopter, and to remove the unusual, spectacular footage. Oktokopter used at all locations where the shooting took place, and run from a boat during bypass Cape Gamow in the coastal zone.

Looks spectacular and seemingly nondescript flight of gulls, which we shot in the marine biosphere reserve. Shooting at 300 frames per second to create the effect of time dilation — a fashionable and are often used in movies now Slow Motion.

Fatkulin says Alexander, director of the project:

- One of the objectives of our studio, which has been assigned to this expedition, — test our new ideas for shooting in real life. For example, such as the use of the cableway. For video we got from her a couple of shots, but the technology will be widely used by us for the following similar surveys. Not always to the point of shooting can be reached by car, sometimes it was necessary to take all the equipment on his shoulders and carry him through the woods or to the waist in water. Actually, one of the reasons why we have chosen the south for the first trip — it’s more comfortable to shoot compared to the north of the region. We are very grateful to the south of Primorye for good weather, which has been with us during these days. We could fly every day and on a large helicopter and use oktokopter. Bright sun adorns almost every frame. The sea was calm, allowing oktokopter occasionally run directly from the boats, not dropping off to the beach.

In fact, we had two main points-based, of which we were nominated for the shooting of the surrounding space. This means that the front — a huge part of the province, we’re just going to explore. The next expedition is planned for this year. The exact date and details we will inform on our website — stay tuned to the blog!
